Life-Spans and Talhian Magic

The Talhians have much longer life-spans than other creatures. The Dragons have the longest by far and are known to be able to live up to 5,000 years. Gryphons have about the same life-span as dragons, but they are more effected by disease and predators. Other species, such as the canines, can live 100 years easily.

Talhian Magic is occasionally used to prolong life. It is known to allow canines to live up to 1,000 years or more. Although, much energy is needed to do this.
Magic works by saying certain phrases in Talhian backwards. This is quite difficult for most to do because the pronunciation must be precise. Noni are the only ones who could truly master the Art and only a few of them were even able to do it.
It is a skill that few have, partially because it is also a genetic trait. It is common for those in certain bloodlines to all be able to use Magic, though only those who posses true skill can master it.
Talhian Magic was most likely a way used by the High Spirits to help the Living. It has failed for the most part. By 2300, only one Noni had the gift of Talhian Magic.

Reputations

Some of the Talhians have reputations from their species. Although, these reputations are commonly all true.
Noni tend to be good faithed, though there are a few who happen to be good, evil, or (much later in Talhi's history) chaos faithed.
Telahi enjoy being around their own kind, much less for other species.
Dragons are normally hostile to others who aren't of their breed (such as a Lava to a Earth, etc.).

One of the most common and true reputations is that of the shana. The shana cannot lie. Only after the War (a.k.a. Second Downfall) are they able to tell small lies. During the time before, however, they could not lie. The way they could trick others is through careful wording of sentences and slight word play that could mean one thing or another. It is one of their most well-known traits.
This makes a shana appear very trustworthy to other creatures. Many overly smart Noni, often the Sage of the Forest Guard, have been able to learn how to think through what shana say quickly to tell if they are using their high level word play.

Outer Talhi

Talhi takes up 2/3s of the entire planet, the rest is considered Outer Talhi. There are only three ways one can enter Talhi:
1. Be born inside of Talhi.
2. Be one of the Talhian creatures.
3. Be lead by a willing Talhian (meaning that one cannot be forced).
Humans are the only exception to the rules. No matter what, they cannot enter Talhi. Many have no clue about even what Talhi is, much of what they know is in stories and normally it is only about the Dead Forest (the border between Outer and Inner Talhi which appears to be dead trees--or harsh ocean--which causes fear). Westcon is the village closest to Talhi, and is known to have a few Changelings (which the humans know of most of who they are). Westcon is also said to have a other creatures within it, yet none are known. There is a river that runs from Serani down into the village, and it is not uncommon for various bones and such to wash down. An old sage in the village was believed to have actually recorded the findings and also to have talked with some Talhians to compose a book with information on the Talhian species, though it has never been found.

World of Talhi

I just realized that I never made note of this:
Talhi is a completely different world than Earth, so it is another planet. It is a very early world, being only around 3000 years old, yet much has happened in that time (see the Ancient Talhi Timeline).
And being a different planet, things are very different. There are no cars, no planes, no real transportation besides horse. There are lights and little bits of electricity, but there are no radios or televisions or anything of the sort. Most of the world is Talhi Forest, yet humans do not know of that because of the Abandoning in 500YA. Humans also know little about the Talhian species, only in folklore is there mentions of some of the creatures (such as dragons and gryphons and the winged wolves), but not much. There is no use of Talhian magic outside of the forest either. It is strictly prohibited (oh Black Ice you little law-breaker you!, you used magic twice in Outer Talhi!).
The people with the most connection to Talhi are probably the McBrian's in Westcon, though that reason I won't say right now.
Changelings are known about in Outer Talhi though. Many of the Changelings couldn't help but show off their shifting. Most stay hidden in their human form and humans know nothing of them. There are those few though that openly say who they are. Yet, the Changelings don't speak of Inner Talhi at all and what's beyond, for fear that either the Forest Guard or the High Spirits themselves will kill them (which would be very easy to do by any group).

Rine Part V? and Talhian Magic

Right now I think I'm going to add on a Part V to Rine. Why? Well, one I feel the need to have everything equal. At the moment, Northern Waters and Forest Guard both have four parts and 25 chapters, while Rine has four parts and 20 chapters.
So I think I will go ahead and add on a Part V.

I have a few ideas for the title of the part:
-The Aftermath
-Second Downfall
-Third Downfall
-Rise and Fall
-Unknown

At the moment, I'm not sure which to choose. All I could deal with, so I think I'll have to decide when the times come around to write that part. That would also work for having other input their opinions on it, because the story is too new at the moment to decide.

I've also been going through ideas on Talhian magic. Yes, there is magic in the lands of Talhi. It can do numerous things, and there are only two of my characters that can use it. One is Lesar, the other is Black Ice. There is a connection between these two, but I won't mention it right now. I will say though that one of the spells that is used in Talhi has the ability to change one into a human form. Oh, and another one grants a very long life to someone. Both have a large importance.

Completed Outline

I have officially completed the outline for all three books: Rine, Northern Waters, and Forest Guard.
Just some quick info about the chapters in each:

Rine
Introduction
Part I- The Stars (Chapters 1-6)
Part II- The Newcomer (Chapters 7-10)
Part III- What Have We Done? (Chapters 11-14)
Part IV- Blood and Snow (Chapters 15-20)
Part V- Unknown (Chapters 21-25)
Epilogue

Northern Waters
Introduction
Part I- Lava (Chapters 1-5)
Part II- Air (Chapters 6-9)
Part III- Wind (Chapters 10-14)
Part IV- Earth (Chapters 15-19)
Part V- Mountain (Chapters 20-25)
Epilogue

Forest Guard
Introduction
Part I- The Project (Chapters 1-6)
Part II- Kyralan Bloodline (Chapters 7-10)
Part III- Lunar Wakening (Chapters 11-15)
Part IV- Outer Talhi (Chapters 16-19)
Part V- Land of Rebirth (Chapters 20-25)
Epilogue

Rine and Northern Waters actually can be interchanged as book one and two. The way they are laid out is that each gives the past of the land in their title and they both mention at one point a certain character that is then put into perspective in Forest Guard. Forest Guard ties the two stories together actually. And I just now realized that if this series was to have a main character, it would be Kyralan. She is the one character that is fully mentioned in all three books (Blue Storm is only briefly mentioned in Northern Waters).

Ancient Talhi Timeline

Now how about some past on Talhi up to where my stories take place?
Note: YA = years after the Creation

0YA: The Creation. When the world was created by the High Spirits and the first creatures began to emerge. The very first creature was the Telahi, and Talhi was named after that creature. Other unique creatures such as Kahey, Linain, Reanan, and Xiom were also made. Humans, Dragons, Gryphons, and Changelings were made later.
500YA: The Abandoning. Humans were abandoned by the High Spirits and forbidden from Talhi because they did not take in the forest as other creatures did. Kokepev and Noni were created to make sure the humans could not return.
700YA: Separation of Kokren. Kokren began to become different for different species, the change in language made Talhi become loose. The Forest Guard was created to help and keep the species together, and many Noni studied the different versions of Kokren and became fluent in the Universal Kokren.
1000YA: Dragons and Gryphons start to separate themselves from the mainland by living in the Northern Lands.
1100YA: The first Lunar Wakening. The species had begun to grow more rapidly than before and eventually some measures had to be taken to keep the populations in tact. Yasu were created and sent down for three days to level out the populations. Also called the "Day of Death".
1150YA: Death of the Ancient Creatures. The result on the "ancient creatures" (Telahi, Kahey, Linain, Reanan, and Xiom) of the first Lunar Wakening was too drastic for them to recover their numbers, so the creatures started to die off rapidly.
1223YA: Second Lunar Wakening. Fewer Yasu were sent down, and few were killed than the first. All other Lunar Wakenings have a lower death rate and the populations are at a better level.
1311YA: Disappearance of the Ancient Creatures. All of the "ancient creatures" were now all gone. The last creature was a Telahi named Fanirikininmolenasi (a.k.a. Frank to those of you who know me).
1346YA: Third Lunar Wakening.
1502YA: Fourth Lunar Wakening.
1684YA: Fifth Lunar Wakening. A single Yasu was sent with the order "canines". The Yasu attacked a meeting of nearly all the Kokepev in Talhi, lower their numbers drastically. The Kokepev were now at such a low number, that it was impossible to rebuild.
1821YA: Lands to Waters. Disasters started to happen all over the Northern Lands, and eventually the Northern Lands fell apart. The previously large continent was now a large island, and was renamed the Northern Waters. Another change separated the main continent: an earthquake broke the land at Bifarr Lake and the land to the west sunk into the ocean. The Black Gulf and Miy Ocean joined, and because of the darker water from the Black taking over the lighter hue from the Miy, the newly formed ocean was named the Black Ocean. Much of the main continent around the edges sunk into the ocean as well.
2016YA: Sixth Lunar Wakening.
2300YA: Seventh Lunar Wakening.
2500YA: Creation of the shana. Zye became the first shana by order of Hanua and Makne.

That goes up to around where Rine begins in Zye's story. There is a Lunar Wakening in 2540YA, but it isn't mentioned in Rine because the shana are now slighly appart from the world.

Well hello there!

Chapters: http://Blue-Storm-Spirit.deviantart.com/journal/10062245/

This is my (Stormy) new live journal for me to keep track of various ideas I have for Talhi, my world and book series.
Talhi is a world that I created not too long ago, and was actually a build off of a smaller land I created called Rine. Rine is now a smaller part in Talhi, and Talhi has grown greatly. Now there a special creatures in Talhi, special lands, special cultures, and special gods. There is so much about it, I don't think I can keep a lot of it straight myself, so I shall use this journal to help me out ^.^

Now, I think I'll just go through how all of this started.
It all started with my first character who I still have today named Stormy (she looked like a saber-tooth fox with wings). Me and best friend (I'll call her J Rae) created her to go with her character Kyralan, and we used them to represent ourselves. That was in 2nd grade. Now as the years past, Stormy became a winged wolf. And after J Rae started writing a book on one of her characters, Miduntar, I decided to do the same for Stormy. Now, that story I am so unbelievably embarassed to post any part of it, that I shall just say what matters from it. I decided that these winged wolves should be called "dorogs" (yes, my terrible naming skills back then). I also had them in a pack, with their leader Raku and his brother Lightning. Raku and Lightning I still have today and they are the leader of the pack Cavera Dorago (get it? Dorog Cave....okay, nevermind). I had also created the main villian character, Shadow (now Shadow Eyes). Some other characters from that old story have stayed, like Rioshay. But anyways, were was I?
Well, then J Rae and I started to get into play-by-post role-plays. I believe the one that we started playing at was Blossom Forest. It really got our minds going! I then made my own rp called Dorog Cave, having to do with these winged wolves, but it eventually got so boring and no players, that I shut it down. Eventually, after J Rae made her rp Perfect Fatality, I decided that I should make another rp with the basis being dorogs once again. Now, "dorog" to me now started sounding really cheesy, so I changed it to "shana". Along with that, I created the world Rine, a place for these shana. This rp also got me into computer programming (I designed my own layout for it...that layout should be murdered) which is another of my favorite hobbies. Anyways, so I created Rine, and after the first day of me advertising it around, another rper called Terry (or Starve) came and asked to co-owner. Now I was very excited. Terry made an amazing layout and helped me get all these new and fun ideas down. It was great! So then Rine went into full swing with tons of players and fun characters. Though, after 4 versions, it started moving slower. I then had the idea to put together posts from the players to make a story. Well, that didn't go so well because each player has a different writing style. Rine shut down. But after having it close and me still with tons of ideas, I decided to go off and use the story that rp made and write it down. And also after some other run-ins with other ideas, such as dragons of the Northern Waters, I created the land of Talhi. Talhi fledged into a large land with its own gods and creatures. Many other ideas came after that which made Talhi seem somewhat real, and to me it is real. Its the little place I can escape to in my mind with all my characters and fun plots.

Talhi is my world, and I don't know what I would do without it.
